Music Discovery of the Day: Gecko- Get Something

After meeting in their first year of jazz performance at Monash in 2019, Mia, Ash and Uyen-My bonded over being the only female rhythm section players in their cohort. They quickly discovered their shared love of rock music and began to blend their improvisation skills and raw emotions to create their unique alt-rock sound. The unexpected interruption of Covid-19 meant the delayed release of their debut album and a prolonged excitement to show the world their badass attitude mixed with the weird and surreal. With Uyen-My recently parting ways with the band, their new single 'Get Something' is one of the last songs written and performed with the OG group, and one that perfectly captures their angsty and punchy energy.
