On February 17, 1673, everyone in Paris was preparing to attend a performance of “The Imaginary Malad,” the last play by Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, alias Molière. Very weakened for several weeks, the illustrious actor nevertheless categorically refuses to give up going on stage despite the insistence of those around him, visibly worried about the various symptoms that he presents. Indeed, a stubborn cough greatly complicates his speech. Molière, ignoring the calls of his suffering body, keeps, to his great displeasure, only one objective in his sights: to seduce his audience, and first and foremost the king.
