The film follows Gabriel, a 24-year-old literature teacher from a wealthy northeastern family, who is closeted about his sexuality. After his grandmother's death, he relocates to Rio de Janeiro to study the lives of sex workers. There, he becomes involved with Adriano, a male escort, leading to a passionate and tumultuous affair. When Adriano mysteriously disappears, Gabriel's obsession drives him to immerse himself deeper into the world he's studying, eventually becoming an escort himself. Through this journey, Gabriel confronts his desires and seeks self-acceptance.
